The NAPGT to Play at Crumpin-Fox

The North American Pro Golf Tour will continue with its third tour at Crumpin-Fox Golf Club in Bernardston, MA July 17-19, 2007. This will be the first year the NAPGT plays at this course, a par 72 of Robert Trent Jones, Inc. design.

Michael Zaranek, Head PGA Professional at Crumpin-Fox, said he was excited to host one of the tour’s events. “I know how [the NAPGT] runs events and how well and professional [they] like to handle things,” he said. “It also seemed like a good opportunity to give the players a chance to play the golf course to test themselves.”

Registration for this event is still open. Practice rounds are July 15 from 3-6 p.m. and July 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tournament will start promptly on July 17 at 7:30 AM.

July 10, 2007 (Sutton, MA)—Records were set and goals nearly met in an impressive second day of the North American Pro Golf Tour’s Blackstone Open. Winner Kyle Gallo shot 19 under par for 54 holes totaling 197, tying the lowest three round score in the tour’s history. He also came close to his personal goal for the week.

“I just kept 20 under in mind all day, and that was what was pushing me,” he said. “Even on my last chip I was trying to make it, and that would have been 20 under, but I just tried to stick to my goal and my game.”

His focus today and all week allowed him a bogey-free tournament. “I played probably the best golf I’ve played in a long time,” he said. “I played really solid from the first hole to the 54th hole.”

SUTTON, MA (July 10, 2007)-Despite morning rain and afternoon heat, day one of the Blackstone National Open ended with a tie for the record of lowest cut at 144, two under par, after 36 holes of regulation play.

Michael Welch shot a sizzling bogey-free eight under par 64 to take the lead after eighteen holes, but his margin was kept narrow throughout the day by close competition.

“It was just a grind out there all day, I just wanted to get done, get dinner and go to bed,” Welch said. “Tomorrow if I play like I did today maybe some of the putts will go in,” he said.

NAPGT Members Top Leaderboards in Providence and Portland Opens

SUTTON, MA (July 9, 2007)—North American Pro Golf Tour members took advantage of an open schedule in late June and early July to dominate other events in the New England area.

NAPGT member Jim Renner won the TD Banknorth Portland Open held June 27-29, 2007 at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, ME. His three day total was 197, 16 under par, which won him the $8,000 purse.

Other NAPGT members also did well; eight of the top ten and 12 of the top 20 finalists are on the North American Pro Golf Tour, including Justin Goodhue, Eric Egloff, and Kyle Gallo, who took spots two through four respectively.

The Providence Open, held at Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, RI on July 6-7, 2007 was another great tournament for NAPGT members. Geoffrey Sisk, the 2006 NAPGT money leader, won the $3500 purse with a two day total of 133, 11 under par. After his first round Sisk tied the course record, shooting a 63, nine under par.

Again NAPGT members topped the scoreboard. Seven of the top ten and 12 of the top 20 are North American Pro Golf Tour members, including Mark Baldwin who placed second and Justin Goodhue who tied for third.

Considering the level of competition regularly featured on the NAPGT circuit, many players said they were not surprised by the numerous top finishes.

NAPGT Blackstone National Pro-Am raises 5k for MS

Story by Matt Byrne/NAPGT :: Photo by Kasey Hine/NAPGT

SUTTON, MA, (July 8, 2007) – The first Pro-Am of the 2007 North American Pro Golf Tour season, held July 8, brought over 80 golfers to Blackstone National Golf Club for a day of fun with the pros to benefit multiple sclerosis research.

Raising over $5,000 for the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s research center, Blackstone owner Michael Gordon said the help of his sponsors, and the North American Pro Golf Tour, was integral to the event’s success.

Both local and national corporations donated money for the event, including Polar Beverages, local John Deere distributor Schmidt Equipment, Anheuser Busch and local insurer Sullivan, Garrity and Donnelly.

Gordon, whose sister was diagnosed with MS twenty years ago, said he is committed to raising funds toward finding a cure.

“As human beings we try to do what we can when we can,” Gordon said. Over the past two decades his family has raised nearly $50,000 for the cause.
A special connection was also found in young tour professional Jared Jiminez, who played alongside Gordon for the event, and whose mother and sister also suffer from the disease.
