The North American Pro Golf Tour is currently accepting internship applications for the 2007 NAPGT Tour Season. 

The North American Professional Golf Tour Interns will report directly to the Tournament Director. The interns will assist the Tournament Director with on-site operations of tournaments.

The Tour is currently filling intern positions with expertise in operations, journalism/media relations, photography, and online operations. Strong interpersonal skills are a must and a sports or golf background is preferred. The candidates must be organized, punctual, energetic, a self-starter, innovative and possess a strong work ethic. Strong computer skills with experience using MS Word & Excel are also preferred. Finally, the ability to perform physical work duties and a willingness to travel throughout all of New England and Southern Quebec province is a must.

The NAPGT is a fun and fast-paced environment. (This description may sound a bit cliché, but it’s truly the case here, at the NAPGT.) The internships that we are currently accepting applications for are listed below with their respective responsibilities. In addition to area-specific intern responsibilities, all interns on the NAPGT will be responsible to assist with tour setup and breakdown at every event; this is a large, but necessary part of our operations.

Pay: All internships are paid and will include lodging while on tour, additionally, each intern will receive NAPGT staff clothing and gear.

Operations intern:

  • The Tournament Operations Intern is responsible for managing and assisting with the on-site set up/breakdown of the tournament. This position is also responsible for instructing and working closely with volunteers, as well as, assisting with installation and maintenance of Tour equipment.
  • Duties will include, but are not limited to: Host course coordination, event setup, facilities management, player coordination, managing scoring and statistics systems, and coordinating volunteers.
  • The ideal candidate would:
    • be working toward, or have recently completed a degree in sports management, golf management, sports entertainment, event management, or a related field.
    • have a desire to work in high level professional golf tournament operations.
    • be willing to work and communicate in a team atmosphere over a long work day and maintain positive attitude.
    • possess the stamina and will to work long hours with physical lifting of tournament equipment.
    • be detail-oriented, foresee problems before they occur, then find and implement solutions quickly.
    • be willing to tackle various additional responsibilities when assigned.

Journalism/Media intern

  • The Journalism/Media Intern will act as a general writer and assist the PR director as a media contact for the Tour. The intern would work with the NAPGT PR Director. The work would include writing feature stories on events and specific players for the tour and media outlets that request them.
  • The intern will also act as a liaison to local press covering the event.
  • An idea candidate would:
    • be working toward, or have recently completed degree in journalism, PR, or another media related field.
    • be a strong writer and editor.
    • have an interest in covering golf or sports.
    • be an astute writer with innovative ideas that can work independently and reliably.

Internet and Online operations intern:

  • The Internet and Online Operations Intern will assist the online operations staff with updating the website, creating new sections, increasing NAPGT visibility through web technologies.
  • An idea candidate would:
    • have a strong interest in web programming, computers, and internet technology.
    • familiar with CMS and Blog software.
    • be a quick learner.
    • be willing to share and present new ideas.

Sports Photography Internship:

  • The Photography Intern will work closely with the Director of Photography working together to cover NAPGT events, shooting golf action, documentary coverage of the events, trophy presentations, awards, etc. Our players are from around the globe and are often featured in local, national and international media, these outlets look to NAPGT photographers to provide images to accompany their stories and tournament results. This is a great opportunity to grow your resume and have your photos published in media outlets around the world.
  • An ideal candidate would:
    • be working toward, or have recently completed a degree in photography, photojournalism, or have a strong background and interest in sports photography.
    • be creative and willing to learn
  • Requirements for position include:
    • Submitting a portfolio in addition to a resume and cover letter.
    • A digital SLR camera.
    • At least a basic knowledge of Photoshop.

NAPGT is also seeking interns with interest in the following areas:

  • Business/Business management.
  • Online video and emerging web technologies.
